The Black Hawk County facilities director told the Board of Supervisors the treasurer's office renovation is on track to finish casework and ceiling work in May and that furniture installation would be the final task; the treasurer's office was expected to be back in place by June 1.
The director said work on the county IT server room is on hold while the recorder finishes scanning; once scanning is complete the contractor will resume and the director gave a target completion of mid-June.
At the VA center, the director said the metal roof and windows are in, interior framing is complete and sheetrock work will start; the director said the county is targeting July 1 to move staff into that building and open the clinic space soon after.
The Pinecrest facility renovation has begun: the director said movers have already started relocating furniture from the first floor and annex to stage work. One phase of Pinecrest was expected to run through Sept. 1; after that the health department will move into the first floor and the next phase will address clinic space. The director said there is not yet an end date for the clinic portion of the project.
The director also said the county is awaiting a completed change order related to a sewer line at the VA center before bringing the item to the Board; otherwise, "so far everything is going fairly well," the director said.
Board members asked where furniture and supplies were being staged; the director said the county chapel was serving as a temporary staging area. The director thanked contractors and county staff for coordinating.
No formal action was taken during the facilities update; the director asked the Board to expect future change-order items related to the projects.
