MIDDLETOWN, Ohio — In a short special meeting on March 11, Middletown City Council moved into executive session under Ohio Revised Code 121.22(G)(1) to consider personnel matters, then returned to open session and voted to terminate the city’s legal-services contract with the firm identified in the minutes as “Bricker Gradin LLP” and to approve Frost Brown Todd LLP to provide all legal services and serve as the city’s law director.
Council convened the special meeting at 8:54 p.m., called a moment of meditation and the Pledge of Allegiance, then took attendance. The clerk read a motion to receive and file the special meeting documents, which passed on a roll call. Council then voted, after an executive session under ORC 121.22(G)(1) — the statutory authority for considering the appointment, employment, dismissal, discipline, promotion, demotion or compensation of a public employee — to terminate and cancel contracts with the previously engaged outside counsel and to approve a contract with Frost Brown Todd LLP to serve as law director.
The motions were moved and seconded on the record; the minutes show unanimous roll-call “yes” votes for both motions. The meeting record lists council members and gives the roll-call results by name.
