City announces candidate forum, Easter egg hunt, farmers market and splash park opening

City officials announced several upcoming community events and election logistics during the council meeting.
City Manager Lisonbee said, in cooperation with local radio KETR, the city will host a candidate forum on Thursday, April 17, featuring two candidates for the school board and two mayoral candidates. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the program starts at 6:30 p.m.; the event will be broadcast on the city’s YouTube channel and on the radio station and will be recorded for later viewing.
Molly, a city staff member, described plans for an Easter egg hunt at Centennial Park scheduled for 10 a.m. on Saturday; the city will decide by Friday at noon whether to hold the event if weather threatens. The city also said City Hall will be a polling place for Election Day on May 3 and will host early voting beginning Tuesday, April 22 (hours for the first week 8 a.m.–5 p.m.; extended hours 7 a.m.–7 p.m. on the following Monday and Tuesday).
Parks staff said the splash park is scheduled to open on May 23, will be closed Mondays for maintenance and will operate Tuesday through Sunday from approximately 9:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. City staff also noted farmers market vendor applications have limited spots remaining for the season that kicks off May 3.
City staff encouraged residents to check the city website for application forms and event updates.
