Midway ISD approves two middle school principal appointments

Allen highlighted Brown's 16 years in education in Midway ISD and a record of instructional leadership across roles including math teacher, learning coach, instructional specialist and assistant principal. Recounting a candidate's story, Allen said, “She just got in the rowboat with him and rode and got that young person across the finish line,” using the example to illustrate Brown's commitment to supporting struggling students. Allen described Metzger's background creating an early-college high school and a STEM academy in Marble Falls ISD and noted her experience as CTE director and executive director of secondary education.
Board member Miss Watts moved to approve the recommendations; Mr. Tullis seconded. The board voted and the motion carried unanimously.
The appointments were presented at the start of the business agenda after administrators described the search procedures and site visits. Both appointees were introduced to the board during the meeting and received a welcome from trustees.
The board's action fills vacancies created by the relocation of an existing principal and a staffing change earlier in the year. No additional details about contract terms or start dates were disclosed in the public portion of the meeting; the board's motion approved the administration's recommendation as presented.
Looking ahead, the district will integrate the new principals into site transition activities for the remainder of the school year and into summer planning, the superintendent said.
