The Wolfeboro Board of Selectmen accepted $2,685.81 in unanticipated funds from Friends of Pop Whelan to offset a demolition grant shortfall for the Pop Whelan Ice and Arts Center project.
Town Manager Jim Pigno explained the Friends of Pop Whelan applied for a grant under board authorization and the final check received was smaller than anticipated. The organization issued a check for $2,685.81 to cover the difference; the board conducted a public hearing and then voted to accept the donation under RSA 31:95‑b(3)(a).
One select board member abstained, stating a practice of not voting on matters related to the Pop Whelan project. The acceptance was recorded for finance reconciliation.
(Ending) Finance staff will reconcile the donation with the capital project accounting and file the appropriate records.
