Wolf Triathlon hosted by TriTech Events (Aug. 2, permit 2025‑24), the Wolf Triathlon/area recreation triathlon (Aug. 16, permit 2025‑32), the Great Smith River canoe and kayak race hosted by the Wolfeboro Lions Club (May 17, permit 2025‑30), the Granite Kid Triathlon at Brewster Beach (July 19, permit 2025‑31), Up North Orienteering Club’s meet at Heath Brook Preserve (May 3, permit 2025‑29), and a four‑date Food Truck Fridays series at Pop Whalen and Abenaki (July–August, permit 2025‑33).
Event organizers described safety plans, volunteer staffing and coordination with police, fire and rescue. Vincent Vaccaro of TriTech Events said his triathlon typically involves about 50 volunteers and up to roughly 300 participants and that he has been coordinating with police, fire and rescue for course safety and road closures. Roger Murray, representing the Lions Club, described the Great Smith River route and said he had coordinated with Deputy Chief Nichols at Wolfeboro Fire Rescue.
Board members repeatedly asked applicants to coordinate with the police department on specific road‑closure plans and bus/elderly transportation details as each event date approaches. Town Manager Jim Pigno and police staff confirmed that more detailed traffic and closure plans would be submitted closer to each event and reviewed by police and fire personnel.
The board also approved a permit to accept unanticipated donated funds for Pop Whalen: Friends of Pop Whelan donated $2,685.81 as a demolition grant offset for the Pop Whalen Ice and Arts Center project. The board accepted the donation under RSA 31:95‑b(3)(a); one select board member abstained from that vote because of a stated personal practice of not voting on the project.
