The Flathead County Board of Commissioners adopted Resolution No. 2626 on Jan. 2 to provide a letter of support for the City of Kalispell’s application to the federal Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity (RAISE) grant program. The resolution, as described in the meeting, supports a proposed Kalispell bypass from U.S. 93 to Airport Road.
Pete Olnick, speaking for the county, said the city applied for a RAISE grant last year but did not receive funding and is reapplying. Olnick noted the project involves multiple jurisdictions and maintenance responsibilities: the roadway is a United States highway, the state of Montana performs much of the maintenance, and the city is partnering with state and federal interests to advance the bypass. “This is about a partnership between United States, the state of Montana who does the maintenance on much of the road, and the city of Kalispell,” Olnick said.
Commissioners moved and seconded consideration and adoption of Resolution 2626; the board approved the resolution by voice vote. The transcript does not record a roll-call tally. The resolution authorizes a county letter of support for the city’s RAISE grant reapplication for the US 93–Airport Road bypass project.
The action represents a formal expression of county support for the city’s federal grant application; the transcript contains no record of county funding commitments or follow-up conditions attached to the resolution.
