Ogden Mayor announced at the April 15 council meeting that Taylor Nielsen has been appointed deputy chief administrative officer while retaining his role as city engineer.
The mayor said Nielsen will lead several priority infrastructure projects from the Ninth Floor and report to Chief Administrative Officer Mara, freeing the CAO to focus on executive oversight. “He's known as a doer and a builder... he's our city engineer. He'll maintain that title and that role for a while,” the mayor said.
The mayor credited Nielsen and staff for recent progress on major projects including the pipeline, Marshall White and the WonderBlock development, and said the appointment followed a national search with external panelists. Council members congratulated Nielsen but did not take formal action during the meeting; the appointment announcement was a personnel update from the administration.
