Cannon Valley Senior Center highlights programs, membership and partnerships to council

Bremer said the senior center now lists roughly 187–188 members and noted the center’s active calendar, which includes programs supported by local veterans’ groups such as the VFW, Lions and American Legion. She said the center recently received a grant for the Book Buddy program and that the VFW and Legion also support the program.
Bremer described an upcoming collaboration with the high school Honor Society in which students will help seniors with cell-phone problems, and noted the center is lowering its membership age to 50 to align with nearby senior centers and to welcome more younger ‘‘senior’’ participants and pickleball players.
She distributed an activities sheet and used photos in a slide presentation to illustrate the range of programs and volunteers the center relies on. Councilmembers asked about outreach and partnerships; Bremer said the center coordinates with the VFW, Lions and Legion and has an 18-member board.
Bremer thanked the council for ongoing support and asked that the city keep the center’s needs in mind when considering future funding and community-planning efforts. The presentation was informational; no council action was required.
