During public comment, Laura Lewis asked for clarification of membership and court-reservation fees she had seen in a proposal, including a $250 senior pass and additional charges to reserve courts. “If I buy a senior pass for $250, that gets me into the facility to do whatever I want once I'm in there,” Lewis asked. She also asked whether courts would be indoor or outdoor and whether other public courts would begin to carry fees.
Taylor Nielsen, city engineer and newly appointed deputy chief administrative officer, replied that members who pay entry fees will be able to use the pickleball courts. He said the facility will have three courts and that a rental option exists for reserving specific courts later into the night. “If you pay to get into the facility... you're able to go and use the pickleball courts,” Nielsen said.
City staff and the mayor said the planned amenities include three pickleball courts and that rental options exist for reserved use; staff emphasized that membership covers general facility access while some specific rentals may carry additional fees. Council and staff did not adopt any new fee at the meeting, and residents were told staff would follow up with more detailed answers about membership tiers, class fees and any reserved-rental pricing.
Marshall White reopening and program details were discussed as informational items; no formal action or fee adoption took place at the April 15 meeting.
