The RSU 22 School Board voted unanimously Monday to approve several administrative items including an amended 2025–26 school calendar, an updated Region 4 cooperative agreement that formalizes high-school credit for United Technology Center (UTC) programs, and a $300 registration payment for a student to attend the national SkillsUSA competition in Atlanta.
The actions came during a business-heavy meeting that also included confirmation of two administrative hires and acceptance of a district staff resignation, election of the board chair and vice chair, and approvals of first- and second-reading policy changes.
Votes at a glance - Personnel: The board accepted the resignation of Becky Mallory, music teacher, effective at the end of the school year; it unanimously approved the hiring of Sabina McEvoy as a special education teacher (proposed salary $78,660) and Christie Babin as director of special services (proposed salary $120,000). These motions carried by unanimous vote. - Policies: The board approved first readings of policy AC (Nondiscrimination, Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action), ACAB (Harassment of Employees, retitled to include harassment and Title IX language), and ACAA (Harassment of Students, retitled similarly). It approved a second reading of policy IKF (Graduation Requirements). All votes on policy readings were recorded as unanimous. - Governance: Lesley French was elected board chair and Stacy Haskell was elected vice chair. Both elections passed on voice vote. - Calendar: The board approved the 2025–26 school calendar with an amendment that moves an early dismissal day from Dec. 12 to Dec. 23; the amendment carried and the calendar was approved. - UTC/Region 4 cooperative agreement: The board approved an amended Region 4 cooperative agreement aligning credit awards for students who complete UTC programs (the agreement implements a uniform total of four credits for full-year UTC students across participating districts). The motion passed unanimously. - SkillsUSA: The board voted to pay a $300 registration fee for one student to attend the National SkillsUSA competition in Atlanta. The request had been made earlier in the meeting to cover Lily McLeod’s registration; the board approved funding unanimously.
The board agenda included motions and seconds for most items; in several instances the transcript records only that motions were moved and seconded and that the votes were unanimous, not individual roll-call tallies. Where the transcript identified a nominee, the board recorded formal votes to confirm the appointments.
Procedure and next steps Superintendent Jennifer Raymond and district staff indicated the amended calendar and the UTC credit crosswalk will be circulated to staff and stakeholders and appear again in the May meeting packet for final housekeeping and implementation steps. The board’s budget committee said it will invite town representatives to an upcoming budget workshop to review articles and reserve accounts.
The meeting concluded after routine committee and activity reports. The board scheduled its June meeting to avoid conflicts with building events and the district budget referendum.
