The Lincoln County Board of Commissioners approved a motion April 15 allowing the sheriff to purchase and outfit four patrol trucks from the current fiscal year’s vehicle line to avoid anticipated tariffs and procurement delays.
The budget committee had discussed the matter at length and recommended the purchase, with the sheriff agreeing to sign a letter confirming the vehicles will be charged to fiscal-year 2025–26 vehicle allocations and that he will not request additional units next year to offset the purchase. Commissioner Guntherberg moved the authorization and Commissioner Hunter seconded; the motion passed unanimously.
Commission staff explained only four vehicles were available at the time and that a fifth vehicle purchase might be considered later. The authorization directs county administration and the sheriff’s office to proceed with procurement and to provide the requested letter documenting the timing of the expenditure.
