The applicant has now asked the commission to return the matter to the agenda.
Planning staff noted the rezoning would change the parcel from A-1 (agricultural) to R-3 (heavy residential) to create a major subdivision. Commissioners debated timing and whether infrastructure constraints — including fire protection (ISO ratings) and school impacts — had been adequately considered; several commissioners urged staff to ensure utility, road and emergency-service impacts are addressed before final action.
The board concurred to schedule a public hearing May 27 to allow public comment and permit staff to collect outstanding technical information before a vote.
