Commission approves contract to complete Lincoln County growth plan, 18-2

Commissioner Nicks and others explained the increase was driven by time and manpower needed to hold public hearings in all communities. Commissioner Eldridge said the firm had reviewed North Carolina code requirements and appeared capable of completing the work in a two- to three-month timeframe. The contract authorization drew a roll-call-style count after discussion; the chair recorded two no votes.
The motion passed with an 18–2 tally. The two recorded no votes were Commissioner Mary Ann Tackett and Commissioner Rogers. Commissioners were told the county has combined funding sources approved in the budget to cover the contract.
The contract award directs county staff to proceed with the engineering firm and for the firm to schedule required public outreach under the growth-plan timeline.
