Deputy Chief of Staff Alex Ward told council members staff had placed brochures at each desk and asked each alderperson to recruit 10 applicants to apply to work for the Census Bureau; two aldermen at large volunteered to recruit 15 each. Ward listed job fair dates and locations including the Aurora Public Library (event referenced as tomorrow), the ARM Center on Jan. 17, St. Rita Catholic Church on Jan. 19, the Financial Empowerment Center on Jan. 22 and St. Therese Catholic Church on Jan. 25.
Ward said staff had hosted one job fair and would support aldermen by providing posters and outreach materials for neighborhood meetings. “If you're interested in hosting a job fair, attending a job fair, please reach out to our office and we'd be happy to work with you,” Ward said.
The council thanked staff and noted aldermanic social media shares were helping outreach efforts. No formal action or vote was recorded; the presentation concluded with staff encouraging continued local recruitment.
