The building, zoning and economic development committee noted that Lori Baker, president and CEO of the Association for Individual Development (AID), said that, if zoning were approved, the petitioner planned to close with funders and break ground in spring (AID timeline: May or June with about a year for construction).
Finance committee items moved to consent included an engineering agreement and appropriation for bridge inspections with Alfred Benesh & Company (24-0913; amount reported as $315,979), an IDOT grant award for pedestrian and bicycle safety (24-0954; $18,503.76), and intergovernmental resurfacing agreements with Aurora Township (25-0112) and Naperville Township (25-0113). The committee also reported amendments to SunCoast leases at Aurora Municipal Airport (25-0120).
Public health, safety and transportation committee items included a request to establish the maximum number of a new Class C special on-site consumption liquor license related to an application from Whitney’s Love LLC at 302 W. Indian Trail, Suite A (25-0097), and approval to purchase 31 United Shield ballistic shields and accessories for the police department (25-0101; $70,000). The police representative said operational funds will be used for the shields; the department said asset forfeiture could be considered for future purchases.
Infrastructure and technology committee items reported on consent included a roadway project award for Millbury Drive to La Jolla Court (24-0572; $428,280 reported), an urban forestry plan contract (24-0880; $150,000 reported), parking-deck repairs procurement (25-0089; $111,417 with a 10% contingency reported), sewer contract awards and maintenance procurements (25-0098; 25-0099; amounts reported in committee summaries), and equipment purchases. One infrastructure item — payment for AT&T to relocate a facility in the city right-of-way (25-0107) — was discussed as unfinished business and staff and legal representatives said further review was ongoing before final execution.
