Ed Seaman, planning and zoning director, urged caution about labeling the project a "truck stop," saying "there's some misrepresentation that this is a truck stop as people think of a truck stop. It's really a gas station that has additional diesel lanes in the back." The Planning and Zoning Commission had approved the conditional use unanimously.

A resident who spoke during the public-comment period, Laura Evans, said neighborhood health and safety were at stake and that the project would become a truck stop rather than a simple gas station. "The truck stop has roughly 50 parking spots, so it didn't really suggest a quick trip," Evans said, also raising concerns about Jake braking, diesel fumes near a nearby high school and impacts of truck traffic on adjacent residential streets.
