Kings Local board approves Josh Morrow as Columbia Intermediate principal

The Kings Local School District Board of Education voted to appoint Josh Morrow as the next principal of Columbia Intermediate School. The board approved the recommendation after a multi-stage search and interview process led by district administrators.

District Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources and Business (presenter) Spinner said the district opened the search in late February and received more than 80 applications before narrowing the pool through paper screening and multiple interview rounds. Spinner presented the recommendation and summarized staff feedback: “Josh is genuinely positive and prioritizes building relationships with students, staff, parents, and the community.”

Josh Morrow introduced himself and thanked the board and his family, who attended the meeting. Morrow said he looked forward to joining Columbia’s staff and continuing “to build on all the great things that are going on.” The district noted Morrow earned a Bachelor of Science in Education in 2017 and a Master of Education in School Leadership in 2020 from Miami University, and has served as assistant principal at Lakota Ridge Junior School since 2020.

Board President Skirrell asked for a motion, which was made and seconded. Treasurer Morrow called the roll; board members recorded votes in favor of the appointment. The motion carried and the district welcomed Morrow to the administrative staff.

The board did not discuss any changes to Morrow’s contract terms during the public portion of the meeting.

The appointment follows the district’s multi-stage screening that included district administrators, instructional coaches and Columbia staff participants; Spinner said 18 staff and administrators completed surveys used to inform the final selection.
