Commissioners adopt ordinance 2025-002 to align subdivision rules with MS4 stormwater standards

Dearborn County commissioners voted to adopt Ordinance 2025-002, updating the county’s Subdivision Control Ordinance to remove duplicate stormwater provisions and incorporate state MS4 technical standards.
Nicole Bailey, Dearborn County Planning and Zoning Director, presented the Planning Commission’s recommendation and explained the January 1 effective date for the state’s MS4 ordinances and technical standards prompted the cleanup. Bailey said the ordinance revisions remove a stormwater calculations section that is now governed by MS4 rules and make related definition and renumbering changes.
Bailey said the Planning Commission heard the matter with eight members present and recommended the amendment by a 7–1 vote. Commissioners approved Ordinance 2025-002 as presented by voice vote.
Bailey reminded residents and interested parties that the county will next address corresponding updates to the zoning ordinance and invited public participation at an upcoming comprehensive plan workshop scheduled for April 24 in the same meeting room.
The motion to adopt Ordinance 2025-002 carried by voice vote.
