CEO Doctor Morgan presented the calendar proposal, which would move many schools to a common traditional August–May calendar and eliminate some extended-year or additional-minute schedules. District staff said the change — if adopted at the April 29 business meeting — would save an estimated $27 million over three years and, when combined with other planned measures, would help the district address a projected multi-year deficit. The district also reported that Building Brighter Futures, a separate facilities and program plan, is projected to save about $30 million a year over two years if implemented.
