At its April 15 meeting the Brentwood Select Board approved payroll for the period ending April 12, 2025, and conducted several routine business actions including permitting remote participation by a board member and tabling non‑public minutes for later review.
Payroll and accounts payable: The board recorded payroll of $36,087.68 for the period ending April 12, 2025, payroll taxes of $8,833.83, and accounts payable of $60,753.39. The board also recorded a payment to Swayze in the amount of $245,000. A motion to accept payroll and related registers was made and approved by roll call.
Remote participation: The board approved remote participation for Mr. Morgan as a remote participant for the meeting. In the roll-call discussion one select-person explicitly voted "no," but the motion to permit Mr. Morgan to join remotely carried and Mr. Morgan participated by phone.
Consent agenda and non‑public minutes: The consent agenda included public and non‑public minutes from April 1, 2025, building permits and the recreation manifest. Board members moved to table part or all of the non‑public minutes so every member could review a portion that was only present in a physical folder; the board voted to table the non‑public minutes until the next meeting and approved the remainder of the consent agenda. One board member recorded an abstention on the tabling vote.
Other routine business and announcements: The board discussed several administrative and community items during the meeting’s business portion:
- CLEO Act exemption letter / police details: The board reviewed a draft CLEO Act exemption letter that would permit the salaried police chief to perform paid detail work for highway-safety grants. Board members requested the wording be revised and moved to town letterhead; they discussed pay-rate language (detail rate versus time-and-a-half) and agreed to return a reworded letter for signature at the next meeting.
- Equipment and vehicle updates: The board noted delivery of a new loader later in the week and announced the sale of a MAC fire truck for $15,000.
- Budget and reconciliations: A contractor is reconciling fiscal-year 2024 actuals; the board expects updated reconciliations by the end of the month and noted questions about whether certain bond-related amounts fall under the tax-cap rules (town counsel follow-up needed).
- Community events and volunteers: Conservation roadside cleanup was scheduled for April 26 (8 a.m.–noon) at the Recreation Center pavilion, and the recreational "bunny breakfast" was noted for the coming Saturday (9–10 a.m.).
The board closed the public session to enter non‑public session under RSA 91‑A for reputation matters at the end of the meeting.
