Central Middle and Mount Zion projects progressing; roofing, brickwork and gym connector noted

District facilities staff reported April 14 that construction at Central Middle School and Mount Zion High School is advancing on schedule, with roofing, brickwork and steel for a multipurpose building in progress and interior work scheduled after the school year ends.
Glenn Hardy, reporting for organizational excellence, told the Carroll County Board of Education on April 14 that construction at Central Middle School and Mount Zion High School is progressing and remains on the district27s timeline.
At Central Middle School, Hardy said roofing and insulation work is underway and brickwork has recently started on the exterior; some interior tasks that do not affect instruction have also begun, including work on skylights and media center lighting. "As soon as the school year is over, then they'll be able to get in full force and start the inside part of that project," Hardy said.
At Mount Zion High School, Hardy said the roofing deck is installed for top classrooms and band rooms, block walls are complete in parts of the structure and steel erection is proceeding on a multipurpose building that will connect to the gym. He said restroom rough-ins and exterior AC units were scheduled to begin this week.
Hardy asked whether board members had questions; none were raised at the work session. He also requested that routine field trips and fundraisers be placed on the consent agenda for the April 17 board meeting.
The district will continue to provide project updates as work moves into interior phases after the end of the school year.
