Milford City Council on April 15 adopted an ordinance to revise job descriptions and reestablish the positions of Public Works Director and Assistant Public Works Director.
City Manager Benjamin Gunderson told council he proposed the revisions because the city’s growing project portfolio requires high-level staff to oversee operations and manage capital projects. Gunderson said he has two internal candidates in mind but did not name them at the meeting; he described them as experienced and committed public-works staff.
Gunderson asked the law director to draft an ordinance amending ordinance 17-1329 with the revised job descriptions as attached exhibits. Council voted unanimously to adopt the ordinance (25-352).
Council members said they support clearer staffing and supervisory capacity in public works to improve project oversight. The ordinance takes effect immediately upon passage, with the city manager to proceed with implementing the revised staffing structure under the charter provisions cited in the ordinance.
