Fiscal office presents consolidated 'B'‑section tracker for FY26 requests

The tracker is intended to help committee members compare department requests with the governor's recommended budget and identify items that may need additional language or separate bills. Cook said the memo includes the treasurer's office and a range of departments that do not have a direct line to the governor and therefore typically provide separate testimony to the committee. Cook said the spreadsheet notes when a department’s funding appears in another bill the committee has already passed and flags positions or requests that are not yet reflected in either the governor's recommendation or the house proposal. She walked the committee through examples ranging from the treasurer's office to more detailed items such as court diversion, defender general requests and state colleges' asks. The tracker also highlights bills tied to appropriations, including references to B200, B205, B208 and B232 entries that staff recommended the committee review while finalizing the budget.
Committee members asked staff to verify line items where numbers diverged between documents; Cook acknowledged a discrepancy in a line tied to S127's brownfields/bond banking figures and said she would update both documents and post the corrected versions online. She also indicated the tracker pulls together requests that departments filed for testimony but that some items may not yet have appeared before the committee as bills.
The packet is a staff tool rather than an adopted policy document; it is meant to consolidate disparate submissions so the committee can address omissions before finalizing the FY26 budget.
