Board approves $1.295 million bid to replace Papillion La Vista High and Liberty Middle tracks

The Papillion La Vista Community Schools Board of Education on April 14 approved a $1,295,233.58 contract award to Nemaha Sports Construction for track work at Papillion La Vista High School and Liberty Middle School.
District staff said the low bid came from Nemaha Sports Construction of Lincoln and falls within the engineers’ estimated budget. The work covers resurfacing/replacing the Liberty track and replacing the track surface at Papillion La Vista High School (Monarch Track), concrete repairs in the track area, shot-put-area improvements, replacement of aging goal posts on a practice field and siding replacement for a shed at the Monarch site.
Mr. Richards presented the project details and recommended awarding the contract. In the motion approved by the board, members also delegated authority to the superintendent or the assistant superintendent of business services to execute construction contracts, approve change orders and complete other necessary actions to finish the projects.
Board members said the work is part of bond-funded projects already approved earlier this spring and will result in new track surfaces on all three middle school tracks in the district. The motion to award the contract passed on a roll call vote with all members voting yes.
Construction timing in the presentation tied the work to the district’s summer schedule; staff said the projects are within budget estimates provided by the district’s engineers.
