Rules Committee releases S.124, a miscellaneous agriculture bill, for floor consideration

The Senate Rules Committee voted April 15 to release S.124, described in the meeting as a relatively uncontroversial miscellaneous agriculture bill, sending it to the floor for consideration.
Committee Chair summarized the procedural history: “Chair, Ingalls decided to add, language that had been, in another bill to to that bridal, and that was around the EPA and authority, in natural resources and or agriculture. So, it missed crossover because it had skipped over natural resources. So we moved it to natural resources. They've done their work. They now agree, the 2 chairs.” The chair told members the bill now is headed to the floor and asked for consideration and a release vote.
Committee members said the measure is time sensitive because the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has been pushing for the movement. One committee member said the bill’s sponsors have been coordinating with House counterparts, and the chair asked that members consider the item when it is called.
The secretary called the roll; the transcript records affirmative votes from: Senator Lanyon; Senator Ron Hinsdale (or Ron Hensley in earlier roll); Senator Beck; Senator Kohlberg; and Senator Barood/Baruch. The committee recorded the item as released to the floor. Committee members noted the bill’s dense drafting and that the agriculture portion would be part of the committee’s report to the floor.
Committee members indicated they expect the House to take up the bill after the Senate action; chairs on both sides have been working with House counterparts, according to the transcript.
