District staff said the parcel sits immediately behind the current Inwood playground and that acquiring the property will allow the district to build a new facility while students remain in the existing building, shortening the timeline for opening 12 permanent pre‑K classrooms compared with the original bond schedule. Presenters told the board the purchase will enable the district to proceed with the early‑learning project sooner and to take advantage of current construction conditions.
The board voted to authorize the superintendent to enter a purchase agreement at the $210,000 price. Board materials noted the surrounding property is also being developed and the acquisition will avoid later complications related to parcel availability and adjacent industrial/warehouse development.
Superintendent Sachs and staff said they will return with project planning and, if necessary, required construction approvals and easement adjustments as design proceeds.
