The commission approved a conditional, temporary pathway for Luna Music Experience (operating in a rented building) to hold limited indoor special events while the venue completes architectural plans and installs a fire suppression system.
Caroline Caldrey (owner) and Eric Worchel (business operator) briefed commissioners on the venue—s safety plans: they have contracted an architect (Ed Weber), engaged Firetower Engineering for code recommendations and said they will follow fire marshal direction on suppression and egress. They described planned mitigations until a sprinkler/other suppression system is installed: capped occupancy for special events (the fire marshal cited a temporary figure of 49 as a possible limit without full suppression), staff and patron safety training, two onsite fire-watch personnel for events, additional fire extinguishers and visitor screening procedures.
Commissioners asked for and received confirmation from the state Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) during an executive-session check that a special-events/temporary arrangement is permissible. The commission—s approval is conditioned on receipt of documentation from the fire marshal confirming the capacity limit and a written statement from the marshal that the proposed temporary events schedule and safety mitigations are acceptable. Once the county administrator receives the marshal—s documentation, staff will finalize a letter for the applicant to present to the ABC and proceed with event approvals under the stated limits.
Commissioners emphasized adherence to fire-marshall recommendations and required that the venue proceed with architectural plans, code review and suppression installation as a priority.
