Michelle Jackson of the Carter Hill neighborhood asked the Montgomery County Commission during public comments for a sidewalk on Carter Hill Road between North Country Club Drive and Mulberry, saying the route lacks safe pedestrian access and is used by seniors and disabled veterans traveling to a nearby grocery store.
“My request is for the board of commissioners for a sidewalk for Carter Hill Road from the area of North Country Club Drive to Mulberry,” Jackson said. She told commissioners the city is replacing water pipes along the road now and suggested that the timing made it a good moment to add sidewalks before the street is repaved.
Commissioners advised Jackson to contact city officials and the Montgomery Metropolitan Planning Organization, and they suggested she reach out to local council members and the MPO to pursue a coordinated solution. Commissioners noted the right-of-way she described appeared to be under city jurisdiction in the sections Jackson referenced and encouraged her to speak with city staff as a next step.
No formal vote or county funding action was taken at the meeting. The exchange took place during the public comment period and commissioners characterized the item as a request that should be routed to the appropriate city and MPO channels for possible inclusion in future planning or capital work.
