Resident asks Glynn County Board to investigate missing grades and unsigned 1978 transcript

Ethel Stanley told the Glynn County Board of Education she received a 1978 transcript that omitted her 10th- and 12th-grade entries and lacked an official signature.

"I come to pick up a school transcript in 02/2019 and almost passed out when I signed it and been disturbed ever since," Stanley said, describing missing grades and an unsigned document. She said multiple attempts over several years to have the record corrected had not produced results.

Board members told Stanley they did not have information at the meeting but would advise the superintendent to look into the matter and attempt to get back to her. "What we can do is advise the superintendent to look into this and try to get back to you," one board member said on the public record.

Stanley asked the board to pull files for the 1978 school year and to investigate why the transcript showed only ninth- and eleventh-grade entries. She said she had passed state tests and that other family members' transcripts appeared complete.

The board did not take formal action during the public-comment period but indicated staff and the superintendent would be advised to investigate the apparent discrepancy.
