Glynn County Board approves $3.06 million computer refresh for schools

District technology staff told the board the purchase was placed on the agenda after a state-contracted supplier briefly withdrew a quoted price and then agreed to honor it only through May 10. "They came back and said . . . they would honor the quote as it were," said a district staff member presenting the item, adding the quote would likely increase after the deadline.
The purchase covers multiple high schools, select administrative computers and career-academy machines, and replaces devices that are four to six years old and no longer under warranty, the presenter said. The presenter also said the refresh is "being paid for through East bus" (as stated in the presentation).
Board member Miss Lee moved to approve the refresh; Mr. Madala seconded. The motion passed unanimously.
The board previously discussed the refresh cycle, with staff saying some years require heavier purchasing and the district is now refreshing machines purchased during 2019—3. Board members asked whether the per-unit cost was consistent with prior years; staff replied per-unit pricing was roughly similar but the total is higher because more units are included.
