Temple ISD board accepts resignation, approves personnel slate and delegation to pursue bond refunding

The Temple ISD Board of Trustees on April 14 accepted the resignation of District 2 Trustee Lanell Davis, approved multiple consent and personnel items and authorized a parameters order allowing district staff to pursue refunding of callable bonds, the board said at the meeting.
The board voted to accept a letter of resignation from Lanell Davis effective April 14, 2025. Trustee Ronnie Gaines moved to accept the resignation; Trustee Shannon Myers seconded the motion and the board voiced its approval. After the vote, Davis addressed the board, saying, “It's a little difficult. But, circumstances, life issues, create sometimes good situations. And, I'm gonna miss the board. I'm gonna miss everyone here. We're like family.”
The board also approved consent items A through G2 as a single package and approved the superintendent’s recommended administrative contracts for returning principals and directors. Those motions passed by voice vote.
On finance business, the board approved an order delegating authority to the superintendent and chief financial officer to price and issue unlimited-tax refunding bonds under a parameters order. The order sets parameters including a maximum par amount and a minimum savings threshold so the district can act on a favorable market day without waiting for a board meeting. Jennifer Ritter of Specialized Public Finance and bond counsel described the timeline and market volatility; the board approved the order by voice vote.
