The Aldine Independent School District Board of Trustees recessed its business meeting to hold the public hearing on the district’s 2023–24 annual performance report required under state law.
Doctor Rodriguez opened the hearing and outlined the statutory requirements under the Texas Education Code. He said the annual report includes the district and campus Texas Academic Performance Reports (TAPR), campus performance objectives and progress, a report of violent and criminal incidents and data submitted under Texas Education Code §51.403 from the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board. He told the board and public that the full 2023–24 annual performance report will be disseminated and available on the district website within two weeks.
Doctor Rodriguez asked the board for questions; none were offered. He then invited public comment on the report and said the hearing satisfied the requirements of Texas Education Code §39.306. The board adjourned the public hearing and returned to the regular meeting.
Why it matters State law requires school districts to publish an annual report and hold a public hearing so trustees and the community can review academic performance data, campus objectives, safety and incident reports, and postsecondary follow-up information received from higher education institutions. The report is intended to inform board oversight and public understanding of district performance.
What’s next District staff will post the full 2023–24 annual performance report online and make it available to the public within two weeks, according to the presentation.
