Transportation & Infrastructure Committee approves consent agenda; several renamings deferred

The Transportation & Infrastructure Committee of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County on Monday approved its consent agenda and recommended several other bills for approval, while deferring multiple right-of-way renaming requests for one meeting.

The committee voted 9-0 to approve the consent agenda after removing a small number of items for separate consideration. Items read into the record included multiple resolutions approving preliminary engineering agreements with CSX Transportation, cooperative purchasing and rental-equipment agreements for the Department of Water and Sewer Services, intergovernmental agreements with the Tennessee Department of Transportation for resurfacing and pavement repair, licenses for maintenance of public art in state right-of-way, and authorizations to accept new public sanitary sewer mains and manholes for properties in Davidson and Williamson counties.

Item removed from consent (and later considered): RS 2025-1160, a resolution authorizing the Department of Water and Sewer Services to enter into construction and pipeline-crossing license agreements with R. J. Corman Railroad Company and Nashville & Eastern Railroad to construct and maintain multiple pipelines in a railroad right of way. Metro Water staff explained this project parallels an existing line that extends to the city of La Vergne and that the new pipeline replaces an older line; staff said the extents of where the city’s system ends and the adjacent county begins were not fully explained in the meeting record. The resolution was moved, seconded and approved; the committee recorded the vote as 9 in favor, 0 against, 0 not voting.

The committee also recommended approval of several sewer-acceptance and abandonment ordinances: acceptance of public sanitary sewer mains and manholes for properties at 108 Glen Rose Avenue and 2183 Kidd Road (Williamson County), acceptance of new mains and easements at Whites Creek Pike and Knight Drive (Bounty Club Phase 1b), and abandonment of sanitary sewer mains and easements at 2807 Grand View Drive (Paddle Hoss). Each of these items was read into the record and recommended for approval by voice vote as shown in the committee record.

Two proposed renamings — an ordinance to rename an unimproved portion of Tony Road to Lillard Lane (BL 2025-57780/3) and an ordinance to rename a portion of Alley 1892 to Frankie Alley (BL 2025-5783) — were each deferred one meeting at the sponsor’s request; both deferrals recorded 9 in favor, 0 against.
