Bay City ISD board authorizes superintendent to negotiate custodial contract with AHI

Bay City ISD trustees voted 6–0 on April 4 to accept the administration's recommendation on a custodial services request for proposals and to delegate authority to Superintendent Dr. Mack to negotiate a contract with AHI, subject to final board approval.

Administrators and staff summarized the RFP process and told the board they had reviewed questions about wages, insurance and benefits. Jordan Crosshoff and other district staff provided benefits comparisons; AHI's HR representative explained the vendor's benefit model, describing a contribution model based on a percentage of gross pay (identified in meeting discussion as a 9.02% contribution for certain items) and confirming AHI uses Blue Cross Blue Shield for medical coverage in proposals where that applied.

The district noted employees in the custodial department tend to elect higher‑deductible plans; administrators told the board the district's total benefit contribution is higher than a typical district contribution (the administration said a typical contribution is "around $220" and that Bay City ISD's contribution was "almost double that," not including insurance). Board members asked that current custodial staff be given opportunities to meet AHI representatives, that the district hold town halls and one‑on‑one sessions to answer employee questions before any transition, and that any final contract return to the board for approval.

The motion authorized Dr. Mack to negotiate terms and return a final contract to the board.
