The Somerset City Commission approved the final plat for Lots 4 and 5 off Norman Avenue and accepted a voluntary annexation petition filed by the property owner for additional adjacent lots, both actions following unanimous recommendations from the planning and zoning board.
Resolution 2025-02 covered the final plat of Lots 4 and 5 on Norman Avenue. The commission heard that the owner previously annexed Lot 3 and had that lot zoned commercial; the two additional lots are intended to be zoned commercial, the staff presentation said. The commission noted that if the owner seeks an improved approach (access), that work would require review and approval by Mead County. Staff also said the property will remain on septic for now, and that Blackhawk Water has been in contact with the owner about future water service; a cost-share or infrastructure grant could support future watermain extension.
Immediately afterward the commission considered Resolution 2025-03, a voluntary annexation petition from the same owner. Planning and zoning forwarded both items with unanimous approval. Commissioners said the next step is to start formal zoning hearings; staff will send notice to property owners within 250 feet of the annexation and then return to the commission for final zoning and ordinance mapping changes.
The commission moved to close discussion on both items and voted to approve them during the meeting.
