The Planning Committee took public comment on a request to retain a two-family dwelling at 894 North Main Street. Planning staff reported the building, constructed in 1908 and previously used as an office, would have a two-bedroom unit on the first floor and an additional two-bedroom unit in the basement. Staff said the site contains sufficient rear yard area to meet off-street parking requirements and that the city of Akron Housing Division had no concerns. Both planning staff and the planning commission recommended approval subject to conditions.
Aaron Ridenbaugh, counsel for owner Ronald Willis, identified himself and said he was present to answer questions: "I'm primarily here. I think Mr. Antonucci's report was accurate. I'm here if there's any questions or concerns and, I appreciate your time and consideration today," Ridenbaugh said. No members of the public registered opposition to the request.
The committee closed the public hearing and reminded the petitioner to attend the committee's 5 p.m. session, when the committee will make a recommendation to council.
