Code enforcement reports uptick in grass and parking-on-unpaved-surface violations; zoning office handling land-use applications

The borough's zoning and code enforcement office told the caucus that March brought an increase in new permits and in code violations, notably for tall grass, undesirable accumulations on private property and parking on non-paved surfaces.
The zoning official said staff issued a number of violations and citations for paving and grass issues and reminded residents that parking on grass, mud or gravel is not permitted without a permit or curb pad. "Grass, mud, anything that's not paved or blacktop, cement... it's just not appropriate to cause ruts in the grass," the zoning speaker said when asked for examples.
Zoning staff reported four pending zoning-use applications: one home daycare, two fencing permits and one application for an ice cream store. Staff also said the code team is actively pursuing undesirable-accumulation complaints and will publish reminders in the borough newsletter and website.
Ending: Zoning staff encouraged residents to obtain permits for nonstandard surface changes and said public notices and newsletter reminders about common violations will be circulated.
