Public works told the Yeadon Borough Caucus that a Pico Gas installation will soon begin extensive gas main work in Yeadon, requiring temporary street closures and detours.
The department said contractors will block Wycombe Avenue for two days (Monday and Tuesday) and shut down Bailey Road from Lansdowne to Union Avenue for safety during the busiest work days. Crews will also work from Wycombe toward Union for additional periods; the work will require staged street shutdowns and detours.
Public works said the contractor will replace or restore the street surface after construction, but full pavement restoration likely will not occur until later in the year — public works estimated restoration work around October to allow time for trench settling and final repaving. The department said the contractor will "replace everything back the way they found it" and that residents on affected blocks can expect new gas taps where applicable.
Officials warned residents about traffic impacts and said they will communicate schedules by email; the borough urged motorists to avoid the work zones and follow posted detours. Public works also indicated it will send email updates and share expected schedules when they change.
Ending: Borough public works asked residents to anticipate phased closures and to expect restoration of street surfaces after the gas work settles later in the year; further scheduling information will be emailed as plans are refined.
