Police announce arrest warrant in March 16 shooting; department reports traffic, parking enforcement and new officers on squad

The Yeadon Borough Police Department reported its March operations and a notable criminal development during the caucus on April 10.

Police said the department responded to 972 calls for service in March, issued 769 parking tickets and 66 traffic citations, and made four criminal arrests. The chief reported that an arrest warrant has been issued in connection with the March 16 shooting at 110 Norma; the department said the individual charged is expected to surrender to authorities the next day. The chief listed charges that include attempted murder, aggravated assault and weapons offenses.

The chief thanked officers and investigators and praised cooperation with the district attorney's office and investigators on the case. "We've been working constantly with them... eventually I'm hoping to bring some other information to counsel," the chief said.

Separately, the department described stepped-up traffic enforcement: officers installed a digital speed sign on McDade Boulevard eastbound and reported bus-overtake incidents and other enforcement activity in school zones. The chief said the department added three officers who "are now officially in the squad," increasing squad size to four and enabling more patrols and school checks.

Ending: The department said it will continue targeted enforcement in hotspots and coordinate school and event security; the shooting case remains under active investigation and further updates were promised to council as appropriate.
