The Kingston Select Board directed staff April 14 to conduct inspections and scheduled a public site walk to gather more information about excavation work on property linked to an intent-to-excavate application. The board set a public site walk at 9 a.m. Saturday at 18 Jericho Drive and asked the town planner and code enforcement officer to inspect the Torromeo site, review recent submittals and report back to the board ahead of the permit deadline.
Select Board members said the town had received new paperwork from the applicant and additional resident materials including photos and videos. The board discussed a 1975 building permit on file and noted the requirement that permits meet the town ordinances in effect at the time of issue. Residents at the meeting said the photos and on-the-ground markers indicate activity near wetlands and adjacent properties. The board directed staff to coordinate with the applicant’s heirs, the property owners on Jericho Drive and planning and code staff to permit inspection access; the meeting was posted as a public meeting so residents may attend.
Board members emphasized that if the board denies the intent-to-excavate, they must notify the applicant of deficiencies as required by the town’s administrative process. The board did not make a final decision at the meeting; instead it scheduled the site walk and ordered staff review in order to have sufficient evidence before any vote.
