The Iowa City Community School District opened and closed two public hearings April 8 on proposed plans and specifications for two 2025 remodel projects.
Vice President Abraham read formal notices and details. For the Coralville Central Elementary School Kitchen and Restroom Remodel Phase 2, the board said the public hearing was set on March 25 and that notice was published in the Iowa City Press-Citizen on March 26, 2025. The district indicated it will receive contractor bids at 2:00 p.m. April 10, 2025, at the Facilities Management Conference Center, 11307 South Riverside Drive, Iowa City. The district said contractor notices were published as required by law in statewide plan rooms and on the district website.
The board then opened and closed a second public hearing on the Penn Elementary Preschool Remodel Project. That hearing also was set March 25 with notice published March 26; the district will receive bids at 2:30 p.m. April 10, 2025, at the Facilities Management Conference Center. Administrators confirmed public notice met legal publication requirements and invited questions from the public; none were offered during the hearings.
No vote was required during the hearings; staff said bid openings and contract awards will return to the board for later action as required by procurement rules.
