The Iowa City Community School District Board of Directors unanimously adopted amendments to the 600-series policies (education program) during the April 8 meeting.
Directors said the changes are mostly minor updates: linking goals and objectives to the district strategic plan hosted on the district website so the public sees a living document; making small revisions to the basic instruction program for state compliance; updating library and instructional-material notice forms for parents; and adding notice language about how the district monitors student internet use (administrators said monitoring is not new but the policy clarifies notification and parental awareness).
The motion to adopt the 600-series amendments was moved and seconded and carried with all directors voting in favor.
Administrators said the policy amendments were reviewed by the policy committee and that the district will publish the revised policies online once clerical edits are finalized.
