Select Board allows Revision Energy another year to study landfill solar potential

The Kingston Select Board voted unanimously April 14 to permit Revision Energy to continue due diligence and site investigation on the town landfill for an additional year. The board said the extension authorizes continued study and design work but does not commit the town to building a solar array.
Board members discussed earlier contractual language and town-counsel review that clarified the agreement’s intent as exploratory. Select Board member concerns raised in previous meetings focused on provisions that might appear to bind the town; staff and counsel identified an annual renewal procedure and clarified that the company’s option was to study and assess feasibility, funding sources and design alternatives, not to obligate the town to construction.
Motion language approved by the board directed Revision Energy to continue its work for one more year; the motion passed unanimously with all four members present.
