The Town of Speedway presented certificates April 14 to 14 graduates of its 2025 Resident Academy, a program the town runs to educate residents about municipal operations and to cultivate informed community advocates and potential candidates for boards and commissions.
Town Manager Grant Kleinheins said 22 people started the class earlier in the year and 14 met the 80% attendance requirement to graduate. “The reason we do this…1, to inform. We're trying to inform our residents about where our dollars are spent, how the different departments operate,” Kleinheins said, and added the program also helps develop advocates and potential future leaders for the town.
Kleinheins read the list of graduates and invited the council and staff to the stage for photographs. He said the program will continue and that staff will reach out to the four participants who could not attend the ceremony to provide their certificates.
Councilors thanked staff for running the program and said graduates can be considered for boards and commissions when openings arise.
