Council approves three-year employment agreement for new Speedway economic development director

The Town of Speedway Town Council on April 14 approved an employment agreement for Kyle Markley to serve as the town’s Economic Development Director, with a three-year term and an annual salary of $90,000.
Town Manager Grant Kleinheins introduced Markley, who was seated in the council chambers, and said Markley is a Speedway resident and would begin work on April 23. Kleinheins summarized the agreement as a three-year contract that includes a cell-phone allowance, three weeks’ vacation and PTO per the personnel policy manual and standard severance and termination provisions.
“We are all very excited for what he will potentially bring to the position,” Kleinheins said. Kleinheins noted the redevelopment commission will also approve the agreement at a separate meeting, and that the commission’s president, Jennifer Miller, would be the signatory for that body.
Councilors welcomed Markley during the meeting; the motion to approve the agreement passed 5-0.
Councilors and staff said they look forward to Markley’s start and that the town will complete the final execution steps with the redevelopment commission.
