The board also approved an updated 2025–26 elementary student handbook presented by Dr. Walter Lambert, director of student services; board members said the handbook removes policy-length text and references the central office website for policy links.
The board approved two agreements to place higher-education students in district classrooms and clinics: a clinical affiliation agreement with Purdue University for speech, language and hearing science students and a supervised clinical-practice agreement with the University of Evansville for clinical psychology students. Dr. Doug Gresham, director of human resources, said the agreements formalize practicum and student-teaching placements and have been reviewed by the board attorney.
Castle North Middle School received approval to start a boys volleyball club; the principal requested the club after local interest and a volunteer staff member offered to run it. The board approved two new high-school course offerings — “Topics in Computer Science” and “Computer Science” — for the 2025–26 school year and said the courses will be available to all three high schools.
The board awarded Danco Construction Inc. the renovation contract for office and classroom work at the Wharton (Warwick) Education Center and approved a package of donations to individual schools, including a $5,190 gift for Castle Elementary from Newberg Youth Basketball and a $7,057.71 PTO donation for Logan Elementary.
In personnel business the board approved a slate of certified and noncertified hires, coaching assignments, transfers, resignations and retirements presented by Dr. Gresham. The personnel packet included multiple certified hires for the 2025–26 school year and several noncertified appointments, as well as a list of resignations and retirements with effective dates.
