Natrona County trustees recognize state-winning athletes and two Wyoming teachers of the year

Chair Kristofferson and the Natrona County School district trustees recognized student and staff achievements at the start of the public meeting, honoring a state championship athletics team and two statewide art educators.
The board recognized the Kelly Walsh High School Nordic ski team for winning back-to-back state championships. Coach Jurdine thanked district staff and administrators, and noted that seven members of the team are seniors who will not return next season.
The board also honored Anne Bovee, named Wyoming Middle School Art Teacher of the Year, and Brooke Mitchell, named 2025 Wyoming Elementary Educator of the Year by the Wyoming Art Education Association. A speaker noted Bovee’s 18 years in Natrona County School District #1 and her recent three years at Dean Morgan, saying she “inspires students to make beautiful pieces of art” and creates “a safe and nurturing environment.” A speaker introducing Mitchell said she serves more than 350 students annually at Park School and has served as the elementary division representative on the state art education board.
Trustees and staff used the recognitions to highlight other district programs and student achievements, and several trustees encouraged the public to attend upcoming academic and arts award events.
The meeting moved on after the recognitions to the public forum and business agenda.
