Library wins national John Cotton Dana award; unveils bookmobile plans and summer programs

The library received the John Cotton Dana national award and a $10,000 prize for its “All E All Free” campaign, library staff said. "We applied for the John Cotton Dana award this year for our all e, all free campaign that we did and we won the national award and $10,000," the library staff member said. The award will be accepted in June in Philadelphia, staff said.
The “All E All Free” campaign promotes free digital and subscription services available with a library card. The library staff member said the campaign showed how patrons could save money by using library services and that the campaign post was shared more than 400 times. Staff also said a related metric rose "24%" after the campaign, though the transcript did not specify the exact metric that increased.
Staff described a new brochure and a diagram of the planned bookmobile. The library staff member said the bookmobile materials had been compiled for community outreach and will be circulated to the board for review.
The library reported several program updates: a teen advisory board from Stowe High School organized a "creepy carnival" that drew more than 100 teens; the library received a donation of 10 laptops from the ProBeat endowment for public use; and staff are finalizing a reduced-format summer programming guide that will include music and art programs scheduled in a new pavilion. "Our teen advisory board put together a creepy carnival on Bridal, and then we had, like, over a hundred teens there," the library staff member said.
Library staff noted uncertainty about state funding but said operations are proceeding "day by day." The board did not take formal action on library items at the meeting.
The board also approved the minutes from its Jan. 13 meeting by voice vote earlier in the session.
