Summary
The town will start service with Community Waste Disposal on June 1, bringing twice-weekly trash pickup, weekly recycling with new green 18‑gallon bins (upgradable), new collection zones, and a roll‑off dropoff for old blue recycling carts May 25–June 7.
Trophy Club officials announced a change in the town’s solid-waste provider that will take effect June 1, 2025, when Community Waste Disposal (CWD) begins residential trash and recycling service.
The change, presented to the Town Council during its regular meeting, is billed by staff as an upgrade in frequency and convenience while keeping rates “affordable.” Town Manager Wright said the new contract will continue twice‑weekly trash pickup and add weekly recycling, weekly bundled brush and bulk collection (with the first four cubic yards free each week), seasonal leaf collection, curbside Christmas tree recycling and door‑side hazardous‑waste pickup.
Town staff emphasized practical details residents will need. Every household will receive a new 18‑gallon green recycling bin; residents may request up to three of those free, or can upgrade to a 95‑gallon recycling cart for an additional $3.41 per month. To improve reliability and response time, the town will be reorganized into two trash zones and four recycling zones, which will change collection days (for example, some neighborhoods will move to Monday/Thursday collection and others to Tuesday/Friday). The town’s service page (trophyclub.org/trash) will host schedules and a service guide.
Council members asked staff what residents should do with the blue recycling bins used under the previous contractor. Wright said Republic (the outgoing contractor) does not want the bins returned and that residents have two options: keep them for personal use or recycle/dispose of them. To facilitate disposal, the town will place a roll‑off dumpster in the HD Supply parking lot from May 25 through June 7 so residents may drop off old blue carts. Wright also said CWD will begin distributing the new green recycling bins around May 25 so residents should see the new bins arriving that week.
Staff said each delivered recycling bin will include a service guide with collection days and pickup rules, and that residents can sign up in advance for the larger 95‑gallon cart before service begins.
The council did not take a separate vote on the presentation; staff presented the contract transition details during regular announcements. The town continues to operate under its existing collection schedule until the June 1 switchover.
The town manager and public works staff said they will intensify outreach in May, including social media, the town website and the marquee at Town Hall, to ensure residents know their new collection days and bin options.
